“They look exactly like us. They think like us.”
Released in 2005, Disney Channel Original The Proud Family Movie served as the show’s series finale and it took the family to Legume Island, where they came face-to-face with evil clones of themselves. Sounds a bit like the plot of Jordan Peele’s Us, doesn’t it?!
YouTube channel Yeek. has a little fun with the similarities for their latest video, which Peele himself shared on Twitter. It recreates the Us trailer, using clips from the animated movie!
Set in present day along the iconic Northern California coastline, Us, from Monkeypaw Productions, stars Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o as Adelaide Wilson, a woman returning to her beachside childhood home with her husband, Gabe (Black Panther’s Winston Duke), and their two children (Shahadi Wright Joseph, Evan Alex) for an idyllic summer getaway.
Haunted by an unexplainable and unresolved trauma from her past and compounded by a string of eerie coincidences, Adelaide feels her paranoia elevate to high-alert as she grows increasingly certain that something bad is going to befall her family.
After spending a tense beach day with their friends, the Tylers (Emmy winner Elisabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker, Cali Sheldon, Noelle Sheldon), Adelaide and her family return to their vacation home. When darkness falls, the Wilsons discover the silhouette of four figures holding hands as they stand in the driveway. Us pits an endearing American family against a terrifying and uncanny opponent: doppelgängers of themselves.
Universal has dated Us for March 15, 2019.
Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth’s prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

We’re keeping the Halloween season going with yet another awesome addition to our SCREAMBOX streaming platform, Vietnamese Horror Story, a kickass new horror anthology that broke box office records in Vietnam.
It is streaming right now on SCREAMBOX alongside new additions Terrifier 2, Deep Fear, and All Jacked Up and Full of Worms.
Terrifying tales of horror and the undead come to life in three unsettling stories inspired by Vietnamese urban legends and folklore.
“The feature, directed by Tran Huu Tan, comprises three chapters and follows an actress seeking everlasting beauty; a magician who makes a deal with evil; and a psychic seeking the remains of a deceased girl.”
The film’s VFX were handled by Bad Clay Studio, a Ho Chi Minh-based company headed by French-Vietnamese Thierry Nguyen, whose credits include X-Men: Days Of Future Past, Mad Max: Fury Road and Pokémon Detective Pikachu, ScreenDaily previously noted.
WATCH THE TRAILER BELOW.
SCREAMBOX is our very own streaming service that’s jam-packed with Original and Exclusive content that you will not find anywhere else.
As of this writing, we have everything from It, Pet Sematary, and Hellraiser documentaries, to Original films PussyCake, When the Screaming Starts, and Welcome to Hell. Last week, we exclusively added Satan’s Little Helper Uncut to the service, too, not to mention Terrifier 2, Deep Fear, and this month’s All Jacked Up and Full of Worms.
All of it would mean nothing without a positive user experience, which is why we’re so extremely excited to share the brand new, “Bloody Disgusting Approved” SCREAMBOX app, available in the iOS and Android stores, as well as all Roku devices and televisions. The new app will be unrolling across other platforms as we work our way toward Xbox and Apple TV in 2023.
