Tobin Bell’s Jigsaw is set to return in Saw 10. Here is everything there is to know about the upcoming sequel!
Spoiler Warning: Spiral: From the Book of Saw
The nightmare never ends, and Jigsaw returns in Saw 10. Here is everything there is to know about the upcoming movie in the harrowing horror series.
So, you thought that we were done with the Saw movies? No! This could be torture for non–fans of these movies, but a real treat for people who love them! The Saw movies and their mascot, Jigsaw, have their tenth sequel following the footsteps of many previous horror franchises like Hellraiser with Pinhead, Child’s Play with Chucky, Nightmare on Elm Street with Freddy, and so many more, giving us rivers of blood, mayhem, and fun.
From the very first movie, with its low budget, great concept, and delightful plot twist, the Saw franchise was well established and respected among other great and famous horror franchises, not unreasonably. The puppet, serving as a face for the main villain, Jigsaw, has a unique and really creepy aesthetic, the concept with the death traps is exhilarating, and the lack of any supernatural elements gives it a unique taste compared to other horror movies. Also, watching horrible people meet their terrible end is always enjoyable.
Even though the franchise had many chances to conclude, it returned again and again with success. In 2021, Spiral: From the Book of Saw was released, and the tenth installment of the series is now in the works. Not much information is available for the film, but we know what to expect from all the preview installments. Here is everything we know so far, while we hold our breaths for more information to come out, making it something like torture itself.
In 2021’s Spiral: From the Book of Saw, the ninth movie in the Saw series, there were many more elaborate death traps, this time targeting police officers. However, not many tears were shed as they were dirty cops. The question was, who was the killer? It could not be the infamous Jigsaw killer, as he died in the third movie, even though he appeared in many more films in flashback scenes. We saw another case of a copy–cat killer.
A man named Emerson (Max Minghella) took his revenge on dirty cops since they killed his father once he agreed to testify against them. He managed to get away at the end of the movie, while Det. Zeke Banks (Chris Rock), the detective investigating the case, was left screaming and desperate. Unfortunately, for the time being, we have no information for the next step of the series, but we hope for more information and a trailer after the New Year.
Tobin Bell will return as the serial killer Jigsaw. He was a big part of making this killer part of the pantheon of fictional serial killers and monsters, just as much as the puppet and the death traps. During the last few years, he was featured in movies such as A Father’s Legacy and Aileen Wuornos: American Boogeywoman, along with the TV shows Creepshow, MacGyver, and The Gloom. The 80-year-old actor is active and productive, making us even more excited for his return to his iconic role.
Kevin Greutert returns to the director's seat. He previously directed the sixth and seventh movies (Saw VI and Saw 3D, respectively) in the Saw franchise. He was also the director for the first five movies of the series and the eighth, so he is very familiar with the world of torture, Jigsaw, and horror. Greutert has worked on several genre movies such as Paranormal Activity 2, Jessabelle, Jackals, and others, serving in various roles. He is serving as editor in this movie once again.
Mark Burg and Oren Koules, the producers behind the Saw series and the Two and A Half Men TV show, return as producers. Executive producers are Daniel J. Heffner, Ketura Kestin, and James Wan, all very experienced with the Saw movies after many years of working on the franchise.
Cinematography is done by Nick Matthews, cinematographer of Chuck, Spoonful of Sugar, and more.
Fans will be excited to know that the tenth movie of the highly successful franchise is set to release on October 27, 2023, just in time for Halloween.
The Saw franchise has often been dismissed as ‘’torture porn,’’ and even if this characterization has a kernel of truth in it, is it really that bad? Many people want to experience these horrible situations in a safe environment, and very few movies give us so elaborate and twisted challenges. We are visiting the world of Saw, filled with puzzles of death once again!
