It may not be Halloween, and we are nowhere near spooky season, but horror fans enjoy the genre during any time of the year! To us, it’s spooky season year round! And thanks to multiple streaming services, movies are easy to find and stream. Here at Hidden Remote, HBO Max is our go-to platform for big features films because the movie selection is one of the best! That said, we’re sharing six horror movies on HBO Max to stream this week.
Now, the movies on our list aren’t necessarily new releases. Many are from a few years back, but with the platform’s massive library, they could have easily been missed so we’re here to help you find them! Who knows? You may just discover a new favorite or learn a classic horror movie is streaming on HBO Max that you didn’t know about. So let’s hop straight to it!
Let’s kick things off with an older movie from the 1970’s. Leave it to HBO Max to feature the good classics! The Satanic Rites of Dracula was released in the year 1973 and it’s a vampire movie that follows a thirsty vampire living in London with plans of developing a plague to destroy all life on Earth. The movie stars Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Michael Coles, Joanna Lumley, and others.
Moving now to a movie that isn’t as old as The Satanic Rites of Dracula, but still a couple of decades old, is Hollow Man (2000). The movie sort of reminds me of The Invisible Man (streaming on Prime Video), but it’s not quite the same. It stars Kevin Bacon, Elisabeth Shue, Josh Brolin, Kim Dickens, and others.
I don’t have you tell you much about It, it’s one of the most popular horror franchises and they are streaming on HBO Max (It and It: Chapter Two)! If you missed the revival of the classic, don’t miss it on the platform. It’s a long one, but worth it.
Speaking of classics, The Conjuring is a personal favorite! I love the entire series, including the spin-offs, but nothing beats the 2013 original. Based on true events, The Conjuring follows Ed and Lorraine Warren, a married couple who are paranormal investigators on their latest case that turns out more sinister than they could have ever imagined. The Conjuring 2 and other movies from the franchise, including Annabelle, are also streaming on HBO Max.
Let’s revisit another classic. The Shining is from 1980 and a true thrill! The silence, the mystery, watching Jack slowly go insane, it’s a ride! The movie stars Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, Danny Lloyd, and others.
Finally, we’re switching things up here with the 2020 film, The Empty Man. The movie follows the search for a missing girl who shocks the town when the kidnapping turns supernatural. The Empty Man stars James Badg Dale, Sasha Frolova, Marin Ireland, and Robert Aramayo.
Which of these horror movies on HBO Max will you be watching?
